While I was in hospital on the weekend I did a cover of Kid of Harith’s song As A Kid. It’s on his Pathétique EP released Tuesday, and his album (that I recorded and mixed) is coming Friday.
I took my zoom recorder for a walk with the original song in my headphones, did some vocals in a stairwell, combined it with sounds sampled on my first night in emergency, door sounds, the velcro of the blood-pressure tester, the endless beeping. 100% recorded and mixed at Calvary Hospital.
8 tones are given a random pitch and random panning position within a 16-channel ring of speakers, then, one pitch and one pan position is chosen and all tones slide toward it at the prescribed rate. (My gifs won’t play? aw, click it to watch)
A pure data abstraction for pitch-shifting an audio signal in the style of an ascending Shepard tone, with an inlet to control the rate( [pifter] is just a pitch-shift abstraction). O wow the math at the bottom is totes wrong. Will defs add an inlet to control the ‘root transposition’ also. BUT YES I can make gifs of patches!
